Seagulls Swimming Club is a well established association, offering the finest training with progressive teaching and coaching methods. Graham was recently appointed as the SA Head Coach. Seagulls Swimming Club has over the years trained many swimmers who have reached National and International levels. His victory in his specialist event last night brought his total tally to four gold medals, the biggest medal haul by an individual South African swimmer at the global showpiece. The 22-year-old swimming sensation was made to work for his third butterfly gold of the meet. Japanese challenger Daiya Seto proved to be a gritty competitor as he never allowed the South African a clear lead. Le Clos was at the front for most of the race with Seto breathing down his neck. Le Clos became the first SA swimmer to win two events in the same discipline at a world championships as he won the 100m butterfly. An initial squad of 155 of the country’s finest athletes has been named, spread over 15 codes, from aquatics to wrestling. Completed application form to be submitted with proof of payment. Le Clos was the star, but Australia caused fireworks of their own with not one but two world records in the newly introduced 4x50m mixed medley relay, the first in the morning heats. Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu added to her lead in the overall standings with another two golds, while Russia’s Vladimir Morozov also topped the podium twice at Singapore Sports School. He also set a new SA record for the event in a time of 51.06 seconds -0.37 seconds faster than his time from the London Olympics last year. Our athletes from around the country have responded magnificently to our strict criteria if we look at the size of this team. We are also accommodating some promising juniors in the team as we believe that they will be ready to fight for a place in the Olympic team for Brazil. This is a team of established stars with proven medal-winning potential, but at the same time bearing in mind that we have to blood some of our future stars on the international scene. The team boasts a rich spread of both Olympic and Commonwealth Games experience as well as stars of the future. The swimming squad includes timeless Roland Schoeman, a veteran of four Olympic Games. Some swimmers like, Myles Brown and Marne Erasmus are products of the SA team at Zone VI Games as far back as Gymnastics includes former Commonwealth Youth Games competitor Kirsten Beckett, who was one of the baton-bearers at the Queen’s Baton Relay in South Africa earlier this year. Jacques van Zyl, part of Team SA at the London Olympics is included in the judo squad, as is rising star Siyabulela Mabulu. The netball team is also a mix of experience and youth with at least one player, Melissa Myburgh, having represented South Africa at the 2010 Zone VI Games and having now made the step up to the highest level. Rugby sevens has brought back medals from the last two Commonwealth Games and with this code now part of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the Glasgow Games are an important part of preparation. In the weightlifting code, Mona Pretorius was part of Team SA at the last Commonwealth Games but injured herself in the warm-up.
